Bettering yourself & Achieving Goals.

Today I am headed to finalize plans for something i’m honored and excited to be a part of, in which I will post further details closer to date.

I have been really focusing on which path I want to go down and what steps I need to take to ensure I reach my goals, I think its important to take steps forward in bettering yourself.. some of the things I like to do daily is reflect and keep my goals in check.

Setting Goals
  1. Identify qualities you admire about yourself, self affirmation is key.  Find qualities that you admire in others also and figure out what is is that you want to learn by making plans and doing what you need to do to learn and grow in that particular field.
  2. Decide what you want to change whether circumstantial or within yourself.
  3. Identify your flaws. Think about the things that you don’t like about yourself and do what you can daily to work on these things. Realize we all have flaws, and that’s OK, no person in this world is perfect but If its something that you can change take steps daily/weekly/monthly to grow and become your best possible self.
  4. Get input – Network, get tips and advice from friends, family and influential people that you look up too. Outside perspective is important, its good to get advice from others.
  5. Start small, work up – Baby steps, write down your goals and what steps you need to take to achieve them.
  6. Decide on a timeline – Set dates that you want to achieve your goals by so you can keep yourself motivated and focused to achieve them.
  7. Follow through- Finally, don’t be distracted by external sources.. its normal to get sidetracked but remember WHY its important for you to achieve your goals and re focus – Don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way of growing and being amazing! We are all meant to shine 🙂

Consistency Is Key.

Whether it is achieving your fitness goals, hitting your targets in work or being successful (whatever successful means to you) you need to be CONSISTENT.

Today was spent with my Uncle.. I admire and respect him more than he’ll ever know & I look up to him for the strength he has and for the incredible conversations we always share. Today we talked about goals, and achieving the things that we want in life and it really made me think about what’s important and what it really takes to be my best self.

Throughout my years of training & preparing for my first World Championship Gold Medal with Team Canada, the one thing I took away from that was consistency. I wanted to be my best self so I trained like it, everyday, rain or shine. Deep down in my mind I knew that if I took one day off, that one day could set me back a week, a month.. who knows maybe even an entire year and I was not willing to take that risk.

I have this same mentality today but now stronger than ever before. I know what I want to achieve in life and I will stop at nothing to make my vision and my goals a reality. I think its imperative to maintain a consistent growth mindset.. by always questioning what it is that I can do better?  What choices can I make that will get me closer to the end result? What can I read to increase my knowledge? What speaker can I listen to that will motivate me?  Where can I go to find inspiration to keep my creativity flowing?

At the end of the day I know that my vision & my purpose is what drives me and Its important to keep my head in the game.. I deeply believe that having the right MINDSET will take you wherever you want to go in life.  Yes, we’re human, we get tired, we lose focus sometimes but its important to RECOGNIZE that and do what we need to do to get back on track.

Believe in yourself & Be consistent.. Consistent with your mindset, with learning with your training.. Work hard NOW, don’t waste another minute.. one day it will all be worth it.

 

Bold, Beautiful Biba

If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.. this is so true. I currently work for House Of Fraser, in Manchester as a Brand Specialist for Biba.I’m so inspired by my brand every single day and it’s an absolute privilege to work with such a beautiful brand.

Stars such as The Beatles, David Bowie, Cher, Mick Jagger & Twiggy have all gotten behind Biba and the 60’s brand is BACK & better than ever.

The history alone is inspiring as Biba was the first department store to open in London post World War 2..

Finally, I’m humbled each day getting to work and be surrounded by like minded individuals and I find inspiration in each person I speak with.. we need to keep ourselves growing and learning to take our selves to our fullest potential and it’s important to keep your vision and focus strong,  I’m so excited for this fashion journey ❤

The Lion Attitude

“Courage, strength, leadership, bravery. Sheep follow the leader they follow the heard, they don’t know where they are going.. many times they are lead to the slaughterhouse but they keep FOLLOWING, they don’t use their mind. A LION LEADS.”
This is what I heard this morning while thinking about my attitude. We need to have the lion attitude that says I CAN to take charge of our own destiny.

Real lions are hungry, they are not followers they lead. Lions demonstrate who they are, they do not seek respect they demand it because they know they should be respected. This life is about having the strength and courage to take a stand for your goals.. so with that, what attitude will you have today? What choices are you going to make? GO ALL OUT.

Have the lion attitude, stay hungry.

The Eyes Are The Window To The Soul..

Have you ever had a conversation where it seems like the person you are speaking to is only half there?  They aren’t fully paying attention to you? They aren’t maintaining eye contact in which their body language is telling you they aren’t fully engaged? Well, I have.. many times and I wanted to share something I find powerful.

Attunement, is the interaction between people that shows a sense of connection and a degree of understanding. I learned about this a few years back while I was working at the biggest Fitness club in Canada – in order to engage with my members and build meaningful relationships. Attunement is powerful, and if you can understand and grasp the concept it can really help you grow and value your daily interactions on a deeper level.

When we engage in conversations, not only do we do this verbally but we also communicate by using body language.

You can tell whether someone is fully engaged not only by the conversation flowing smoothly, but by things visually such as hand gestures, head nods and eye contact.

In order to connect and understand the power of attunement when you are speaking to someone, it is important to be 100% focused on the individual standing in front of you and genuinely listen to what it is that they are saying..don’t listen to hear, listen to UNDERSTAND. Ensure that you give that person your undivided attention – when we do this it makes the world of a difference. The conversations are deeper and more meaningful, we are more open and we look forward to connecting with more people daily.

Remember, listen to understand not to hear.. and don’t forget to listen with your eyes.. they say the eyes are the window to the soul.

Strength on dark days

Some days will be easier than others, some days thoughts of our past arise & we need to accept, acknowledge and realise that it’s ok.

I think it’s important to let yourself feel  not only the good emotions but the bad in order for us that heal, also.. Instead of pushing away the pain of the past or hiding away from the struggle, let yourself be upset, let yourself cry and get angry if you must HOWEVER do NOT unpack and live there.

If we are in a constant state of feeling sorry for ourselves all we are doing is distracting from our progress of our future goals & aspirations.

My final thought is this, it is imperative to acknowledge our emotions however make sure to control them. Keep your head held high my friend and remember how far you’ve come and have to go! You are a warrior and nothing can break you.

Accept what is, let go of what was & have faith in what will be.

Karma & Coffee Shops

Today while on my lunch at work I walked down the street to a local coffee shop to buy myself a coffee. When I got to the counter to pay the £1.10 for my drink on my card – as I didn’t have any change on me, the woman behind the till told me that I needed to spend £4.00 minimum in order to serve me using the card machine. I understood, so I took a step out of line to figure out what else I wanted to have with my drink.. As I was doing so a lady ahead of me turned and said here hunny, let me get that coffee for you! I was so shocked at her random act of kindness that I thought I heard her wrong. I told her it was ok and that I had the money but she insisted on buying my drink for me & wouldn’t take no for an answer.I chatted to the kind woman for a few moments and then I gave her my biggest bear hug and she went on her way. It’s funny to think that something as little as buying a coffee for a random stranger can cause such joy, and its so refreshing to know that there are still people in this world like her.

I deeply believe in Karma, good karma & bad karma. I believe that the choices we make and the way that we treat others on a daily basis directly comes back to us in one way or another. No one is perfect but I choose to live my life treating others with kindness and respect whether or not they reciprocate it back to me. The reason I choose to think & act this way is because I believe that deep down, if you always do your best to treat others as you would like to be treated good karma will eventually find its way back to you, like it did today for me in the coffee shop.

I think we have all been in a situation, perhaps in work, relationships, or just our daily live’s where someone we are dealing with has an attitude towards you that is angry or negative. Instead of mirroring the actions of others I think it is important to ignore the negativity & for this one simple fact: When someone hurts you or treats you in an ill manor, I believe that the reason they say or do these things, whether intentional or not is a direct reflection on the way that they feel about themselves. I’ve been in situations more times than I can count where regardless of how calm and collected I am, an individual is choosing to take their anger out on me. Its important to remember to let their negativity fall off of you like a raindrops do to an umbrella. No one can hurt you without your consent and having the power to ground yourself & remain calm in stressful situations will have such a positive effect on your life. ❤
