Back to business

Well, I’m back from my two week adventure in Spain with my mamma. 

 I can honestly say this has been the best two weeks of my life.. getting to spend quality time searching for shells on the beach to booking a gorgeous hotel and travelling to Benidorm for the night, wow Words can’t explain what a beautiful time it was. 

It’s the little moments that mean the most in life, I find that we can get so caught up and busy in the day to day that before we know it time has flown by and we wish we had those moments to relive.. I can still see my beautiful mother now walking to put her toes in the water, looking back and smiling at me and these are moments I will cherish for as long as I live. 

Now that I’m back in England, it’s time to focus on my goals. Time to push harder than ever before and to keep moving forward. Life is so beautiful, I am blessed ❤️ 

Purpose

When you wake up every morning, what drives you? What is your purpose?

If you want to live a life enriched with love and happiness it begins with you, so  find your purpose and find your WHY.

It’s important to take steps daily to move forward, it’s not always going to be an easy road but if you know your purpose, And what drives and inspires you then you WILL improve your life.

Your why will pull you up when you’ve been knocked down and it will keep you fighting when you’re tired. I heard something this morning from one of my favourite speakers saying “don’t look back you’re not going that way, and when you get knocked down.. get back up”

If we know our purpose it will be the reason you keep on fighting for your dreams.. when it hurts, keep going.. for if we push through those tough times they will only make us STRONGER. Stay focused and do NOT loose sight of that.

Be the very best. Sacrifice, get up early & fight back.. you are FAR from ordinary.

Hard Work Pays Off

I Had a conversation with someone today in which we spoke about our goals and how to be successful..this person was adamant that hard work doesn’t ALWAYS  pay off in the end. They told me that some people work themselves to the bone for years and it just never seems to pay off..

Its simple you guys, I responded by telling them that the reason it didn’t pay off was because they had no purpose, they continued to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results & they never saw success because they were comfortable consistently being average.

There are people in this world that work for years within a company but they never progress and they stay at the same level.. I genuinely cannot comprehend why anyone would want to settle and accept average. It’s so important to continue to grow in whatever field that you’re in and be the best at what you do! I understand not everyone has the same mentality as I do but why go through the motions and be like everyone else in this world?

Know WHY you do what you do & exactly what you want to achieve.. Don’t get stuck in the same routine leading to no where.

Bettering yourself & Achieving Goals.

Today I am headed to finalize plans for something i’m honored and excited to be a part of, in which I will post further details closer to date.

I have been really focusing on which path I want to go down and what steps I need to take to ensure I reach my goals, I think its important to take steps forward in bettering yourself.. some of the things I like to do daily is reflect and keep my goals in check.

Setting Goals
  1. Identify qualities you admire about yourself, self affirmation is key.  Find qualities that you admire in others also and figure out what is is that you want to learn by making plans and doing what you need to do to learn and grow in that particular field.
  2. Decide what you want to change whether circumstantial or within yourself.
  3. Identify your flaws. Think about the things that you don’t like about yourself and do what you can daily to work on these things. Realize we all have flaws, and that’s OK, no person in this world is perfect but If its something that you can change take steps daily/weekly/monthly to grow and become your best possible self.
  4. Get input – Network, get tips and advice from friends, family and influential people that you look up too. Outside perspective is important, its good to get advice from others.
  5. Start small, work up – Baby steps, write down your goals and what steps you need to take to achieve them.
  6. Decide on a timeline – Set dates that you want to achieve your goals by so you can keep yourself motivated and focused to achieve them.
  7. Follow through- Finally, don’t be distracted by external sources.. its normal to get sidetracked but remember WHY its important for you to achieve your goals and re focus – Don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way of growing and being amazing! We are all meant to shine 🙂

 

Consistency Is Key.

Whether it is achieving your fitness goals, hitting your targets in work or being successful (whatever successful means to you) you need to be CONSISTENT.

Today was spent with my Uncle.. I admire and respect him more than he’ll ever know & I look up to him for the strength he has and for the incredible conversations we always share. Today we talked about goals, and achieving the things that we want in life and it really made me think about what’s important and what it really takes to be my best self.

Throughout my years of training & preparing for my first World Championship Gold Medal with Team Canada, the one thing I took away from that was consistency. I wanted to be my best self so I trained like it, everyday, rain or shine. Deep down in my mind I knew that if I took one day off, that one day could set me back a week, a month.. who knows maybe even an entire year and I was not willing to take that risk.

I have this same mentality today but now stronger than ever before. I know what I want to achieve in life and I will stop at nothing to make my vision and my goals a reality. I think its imperative to maintain a consistent growth mindset.. by always questioning what it is that I can do better?  What choices can I make that will get me closer to the end result? What can I read to increase my knowledge? What speaker can I listen to that will motivate me?  Where can I go to find inspiration to keep my creativity flowing?

At the end of the day I know that my vision & my purpose is what drives me and Its important to keep my head in the game.. I deeply believe that having the right MINDSET will take you wherever you want to go in life.  Yes, we’re human, we get tired, we lose focus sometimes but its important to RECOGNIZE that and do what we need to do to get back on track.

Believe in yourself & Be consistent.. Consistent with your mindset, with learning with your training.. Work hard NOW, don’t waste another minute.. one day it will all be worth it.

 

6am Motivation, The Voice Inside.

The question remains, Is that all you’ve got?

When I woke up this morning this is what came to mind.. Don’t loose heart, remember this is the battle between you and your mind so you need to drown out the voice of uncertainty with the sound of your own heart beat & you must burn away your self doubt with the fire inside of you.

Believe the voice inside of you that says you can run a little faster, you can grind a little harder. There is nothing as powerful as a changed mind..You can change your hair, you can change your clothing & your address, but if you don’t change your MIND the same experience will perpetuate again and again.. we need to change INWARDLY and focus on our mindset to achieve what we want in life. Don’t be like most people, focus on what you what it is that you want so bad and STEP UP. Discover what you’re capable of my friend, who says you can’t? I believe that the only one who is standing in your way is the person you see reflecting in the mirror. I think something happens when you step into your fears..you make a decision, you make a choice. A choice that is to develop the courage to chase the things that you want in life as your life has value and your dreams have PURPOSE. With that said, What are you going to do with the 24 hours that lay before you? What are you going to do with this new day, this new chapter? Ask yourself.. am I going to STEP UP and chase my goals like a lion chasing a gazelle or am I going to go back to bed. GET UP & GET BUSY, Time waits for no man.

How To Overcome.

The struggle that lit my fire.

img_0055We all experience our own battles in life & endure pain and struggle. In this post I want to share with you how I overcame my biggest setback in hopes that anyone reading this who may have experienced something similar or any trauma can regain their life.

A few years ago I fell victim to “sexual assault” Now, “sexual assault” is a politically correct term for “rape” I won’t  go into the finer details of the actual incident with you however,  I want to share with you the effects it had and the way I overcame this tough time.

When you endure a traumatic experience it consumes your thoughts, it sometimes takes over your will to go on and a lot of the time you lose sight of reality, you lose sight of your inner voice. When I was assaulted it flipped my world upside down. I lost touch with my closest friends, I pushed away my family and lost sight of who I really was. This was not their fault, this was me being angry at life for dealing me such cards. Whatever trauma you’ve experienced, a lot of the time it will leave you with some form of post traumatic stress or side effect. Most doctors will recommend medication to numb the pain and hope that you’ll find your way through counselling.

For me, it wasn’t that simple.. you see I tried every avenue to get myself back but nothing healed the pain. When you experience something painful the hardest thing to do is get through it. A massive thing that you need to understand is in order to move forward you must learn ACCEPTANCE. This was the most challenging thing for my mind to grasp however, something clicked inside of me one day which finally let me begin to heal.

Acceptance – As difficult as it may seem, you must accept that what has happened has happened. It’s  easy to get angry with the world but you need to accept that you cannot change the past. You don’t have to agree with what happened to you but once you have found acceptance you can being the healing process.

Secondly, you must focus your energy into loving YOURSELF. Understand that whatever it was that happened was not your fault & it is okay to be upset as being upset is a part of the healing process. Let it out, whether you release it by screaming into a pillow or going to the gym, spend time on yourself. Do things that make you feel GOOD. Feel good endorphins will pick you back up when you are feeling low. These can be things such as spending time with loved ones, reading your favourite book or watching your favourite movie. Whatever it is, ensure it makes you feel good.

Finally, refocus on your future & set some GOALS. Nothing feels better than achieving something you’ve set your mind on. Use the struggle to inspire you to chase your dreams. Who says you can’t be the next Michael Jordan? Who says you can’t be the best version of yourself? If you remember to accept the past, and focus on creating a beautiful future I promise you that each day it will get better. Keep striving for greatness, we weren’t put on this planet just to simply “exist”.
